TIFB Mission:

The Mission of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board is to help Texas deploy an advanced telecommunications infrastructure by stimulating universal and scaleable connectivity for public schools, higher education, public libraries, and nonprofit healthcare facilities. The Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board will also effect technology training programs and encourage quality content that strengthens education, healthcare, and libraries in Texas. Priority will be given to rural and underserved populations.

Please visit the TIFB website for more information.

About VAN:

Victoria Area Network (VAN), is a partnership of local entities that was brought together through a Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund grant. The $500,000 grant will allow Victoria to benefit in three different ways:

1.) Connectivity of VAN members on a high speed wireless network.

2.) Free education to the public.

3.) Web portal linking all existing information about Victoria in one easy to use website.

One of the benefits of this network partnership is the ability to connect entities not only through high speed wireless, but also to connect them on a common project – technology. Each partner has contributed in different ways, from being a cash contributor, to serving on a committee and/or board position for VAN.

VAN Mission:

Be the major conduit for information exchange among the VAN members, and become the most complete source of online information about Victoria County.

Become a major supplier of computer training for Victoria County.

Be the access pathway to computer use and Internet connectivity for non-school age low-income residents of Victoria County.
